Do you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep at night? This could be for many different reasons including pain, restless sleep syndrome, or even lack of a sleep hygiene routine. No matter the reason for not getting a good night’s sleep, there is always room to improve the sleep that you get each night. Sleep in general is something that every person needs each night. This is due to the great benefits that sleep provides including improves concentration, productivity, supports immune health, and can positively impact mood. When you are able to get good sleep, you wake up feeling refreshed and alert to the tasks that need to be taken care of for the day. This is because when quality sleep is achieved, your mind is sharper and able to focus on what must be done for the day.

One tip to get better quality of sleep is to have a set time that you go to bed and wake up each day. Most adults have jobs or obligations they need to be ready for early in the morning so setting an alarm for this may seem second nature. What can be even more impactful is to set an alarm for your bedtime as well. We as humans are habitual and once we get on a routine of going to bed at the same time each night it will get easier and easier to fall asleep at night. Once you have a time you want to be in bed, the next step is to create a bedtime routine. This means winding down in a quiet and peaceful environment. This can be as simple using the bathroom and brushing your teeth before getting into bed and reading. Once you have a routine, it will be important to keep it up. Over time your body will understand that these actions are linked to going to bed and will help ease you into sleep much faster after done for a few weeks.
